Blind Veterans UK helps ex-Service men and women of every generation rebuild their lives after sight loss. Since 1915 they have supported tens of thousands of blind veterans.
It’s a sad fact that many of the blind veterans they support suffer from social isolation.
It happens as we get older and our families leave us, and partners pass away. For people with sight loss, that isolation is all the more painful to bear. Those who can’t see can lose self-belief, and, even worse, their sense of belonging.
Blind Veterans UK are specialists in helping isolated veterans. Giving those who have served our country support that ranges from equipment, rehabilitation and training to practical advice, and vital emotional support.

We began work in 1987 as just a small group of passionate, caring opticians, and have now grown into a team of over 300 dedicated health care professionals and support staff. While we have a head office in Swindon, Wiltshire, our eye and ear specialists are based in a wide variety of locations around the UK, allowing us to support people in communities all across England, Scotland, and Wales. That's why we use the latest portable equipment, including digital fundus cameras which can take a picture of the back of your eyes, so that we can deliver a service comparable to that found on the high street, at home.
